Every morning when you wake up, try to get into the habit of being mindful, right from the start. Have you ever heard of a 'Stub Your Toe Day?'. That's when you basically stub your toe on the side of the bed in the morning, so to speak, and then from every moment on, negative things happen. We have all had days like this.

The negativity throughout our day persists because we are focusing our mind on the down side (the glass half empty), all day and when we do this, there is only room for more negativity, like a domino effect. Your energy field is clogged with negative thoughts and keeps attracting more and more negativity as the day goes on.  Before you know it you are up to your head in anger, frustration, stress and worry.

As a solution, its time to change that old habit. Change the way you think, in order to change your life to a more positive one. Start waking up with a positive and healthy mindset! Do it early so you don't allow any negativity to set into your day. Like a bad addiction, the negative thoughts want to get into your brain out of habit, because they have been camped in your mind for so long now. Fight it, wipe those negative thoughts away and only allow positive thoughts into your mind from this day forward.

An easy way to do this is to imagine that you are surrounded by a grey cloud of negative smoke and this smoke equals your negative thoughts. Now imagine a big breath of wind blowing these thoughts away and the grey cloud eventually dissipates into the atmosphere, never to return.

Start getting into a positive and healthy way of thinking and to set a precedent for the rest of the day and every day forward.

So how do we set our intention?

When you wake, take a few deep breaths... Breathe in for four, try to take your breath all the way down to your stomach, for the count of four and then breathe out for the count of four.

Do this as many times as you think suits you. One minute is good, ten minutes is awesome! The longer, the better.

Now that you are in the most relaxed state, its important to set an intention for today.

Firstly, say:

'Thank you for the amazing day that I am about to have today....'

Then, set your intention to whatever you feel needs to be your main positive focus today whether it be:

Better finances

Better health and well being

More love in your life

More friendships

A job you enjoy

You need to be more kind

You need to work on your anger management

Whatever you feel that you need to work on, set your intention towards this goal. Write them down in a diary, and then go about your day with these goals, wishes and hopes in your mindset.

I will give you some examples:

Say: 'I set my intention today to:..............'

For Better Health

I set my intention today to focus on how wonderful I feel today. If you focus on your aches and pains you will keep getting aches and pains. If you talk about your aches and pains, you will keep getting them as these negative thoughts are always in your energy field. When you feel the ache in your body, be conscious of it, then start to take long deep breaths and come back into the now, because as long as you are breathing in the present you cannot feel the aches and pains: (try this, it really works: If you have an aching lower back, imagine the ache as a dull, grey ball in the base of your back. Now imagine this grey ball getting smaller and smaller to the point where it is gone). Poof, just like that, gone. You can wipe away any negative feelings regarding your health  as easy as that, as long as you focus on feeling good and send the negative thoughts away. As long as you are focusing on the pain or your illness, it will keep coming back. Today when someone asks you how you feel, you say that you feel wonderful (unless its your doctor of course)! Its all about being positive. Obviously if you have very cronic illness, then it is a good idea to consult your doctor and do not by any means take this information as medical advice. Likewise, it is important to always focus on your health rather than your illness.

To Be More Kinder To Others

I set my intention today to be kinder to others. When you are kinder to others, it is returned as positive energy back to you. Due to the law of attraction which is proven in science, we send out vibrations of thought every time we have a thought, so if we have a negative thought, you will have a negative thought come back to you. Its all in the vibration. When we think positive, we will get positive back to us. Whether we like it or not, its science and its the law. I will give you an example. The other day I was waiting in the doctors and had been waiting a very long time. There was a couple that had walked in at least an hour after me and they were getting so frustrated and inpatient you could cut the air with a knife. So when the doctor came out and called my name, I let them go ahead of me. They looked at me so shocked in disbelief that I had let them go ahead. Instantly, their mood was happier and they couldn't stop thanking me. Just seeing that change made it all the worth while. This is what I love to do, making people happy. Because when I am kind to others, I know that the universe is sending kindness back to me.

To be Calmer, Less Angry and More Patient

I set my intention today to STOP when I am about to get angry.  Think for a moment, come back into the now and just breathe. Remember that when we get angry and frustrated, that person you are angry at, is also learning their life lessons and they need to be respected too. This is where our life lessons and tests of tolerance and acceptance come into play. Respect others and you will be respected back. We are all very different beings with different souls, some gentle, some fierce. As a result, we need to respect and accept each others boundaries. If someone is really annoying, then it might be a time to start spending less time with that person and more time with the people in your life that make you feel happy, joyful, worthy and fill you with compliments. You have a beautiful soul that deserves to be loved unconditionally. Do not spend time with people that put you in a bad frame of mind or those energy vampires that make you feel terrible. Avoid those people that are nasty to you, make you frustrated or envy you. This is your choice and if you are experiencing negativity from others, then its probably time to make new friends or learn ways to tolerate them a little more. I will give you an example of what I mean by a test of tolerance: There is a lot of really bad drivers out there and many are always in a hurry. Rather than getting aggressive at them, learn to live with them. Because I will tell you now, they are not going away. Next time you are driving on the motorway and someone cuts you off, try to imagine that they have a more urgent cause than you. Try to imagine they have a pregnant lady in the car with an urgency to get to hospital, or they are off to rescue someone. Because acting out in aggression will not only cause a negative reaction, but also retaliation and misery in the end. Be mindful, be patient, be calm and you will reap the rewards.

For More Income

I set my intention today to focus on better finances in my life. Start looking at money as a good thing that helps us all, rich or poor.  Start visibly imagining money coming in, its flowing through me like a waterfall as I stand in this beautiful positive stream of flowing money. Focus on all of the positive ways that you can make this money flowing in motion happen and the benefits of having this money. Imagine all of the people that you could help. Never hold onto negative beliefs around money (eg. 'Rich people are mean people' or 'I'll never be rich') because if you think like this, then you will always subconsciously never want to hold onto money and spend it as quick as you get it. Many people that struggle saving money, have negative beliefs about money and don't even realise it. The subconscious mind is so powerful. Focus on money always in a positive light and how good money can be to help people such as charities and the poor. Rome wasn't built in a day, it takes time, but if you can focus positively about money, make a plan, get organised, you will make your own little money tree happen. Start thinking of money as being a great benefit to everyone, rich or poor and that you love it! Stop focusing on how broke you are and worrying about how you cant pay the bills and envying the neighbours because they always have money, and you don't. It should be irrelevant to you on how others spend their money as this is your life journey, not theirs. If you really want more money, start to focus only positive thoughts around money and manifest ways you can make it happen. 'We get what we focus on', as Richard Branson says and he was a high school drop out with poor Maths and Writing skills, yet his courage and persistence made his way all the way up to entrepreneur. Sylvester Stallone was so poor he was homeless and living on the streets and had to sell his dog to get by, which broke his heart.  It is understandable that some of us can have a negative belief around money after having to go to such extreme as to sell your pet. And yet, Stallone's persistence at getting his first break in acting prevailed when he landed an acting career, in his own movie, which he wrote himself, 'Rocky'.

Unfortunately we all have to deal with losses of some kind or another such as losing a job in this world of volatile employment. However its important to keep positive and realise its your life lesson. Find your way by wiping the slate clean, get back up and keep on going, your family is counting on you. Your soul is counting on you. Lift your spirits, feel the unconditional love in your heart, feel the power in you just above that belly button, as you have the strength to climb mountains. All you have to do is believe in yourself, and you will climb mountains.

Today, you will have to wait in line whether it be the motorway or the bank or the post office, these are all tests in our everyday lives, to test our patience. Because we are all here to learn the life lesson of patience and to learn to be kinder to others. Today obstacles will happen which will be tests to remind us to get back on our path of learning our life lessons. Stick to being more mindful as only you are in charge of your own destiny and only you can change the way you think to change your life for the better...... Next time you are standing in line, instead of getting frustrated, have a chuckle to yourself as this is a test from the universe, for you to be more patient.  It is just another obstacle in your path, to learn from. Everyday I get stuck at the same traffic lights time and time again. But I look at this now as a positive time of my day. Because when I am stuck at the traffic lights I use this as a moment to start to take a few deep breaths and come back into the now. Red light equals breathe. That way I am getting my little mindfulness moments into my day, it really works.

So keep up every morning with setting that intention for the day. You could even write your intentions into a diary and check back from time to time on your progress. Set a thought of your hopes, dreams and wishes to an action. Before you know it,  you will be on the road to mindfulness and success! As Buddha wisely says, 'You are What You Think'...
